Kalamazoo Township police are continuing to probe the August slaying of a 31-year-old man, but a detective sergeant with the agency says the investigation has yet to yield many clues.

KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP — Kalamazoo Township police are continuing to probe the August slaying of a 31-year-old man, but a detective sergeant with the agency says the investigation has yet to yield many clues.

“We’re chasing numerous angles,” Detective Sgt. Paul Erlandson said of attempts to find Marcel Hughley’s killer. “We’ve been interviewing people left and right, we’re just not getting any from the community to be honest with you.”

Hughley, of Kalamazoo, was found shot to death at about 8:20 a.m. on Aug. 5 in an older model Camaro parked in the 2200 block of North Westnedge Avenue, just north of Amsterdam Street. Police have said Hughley had been shot multiple times but have declined to say where he was wounded.

The Camaro, which had gold-colored wire wheels, was not registered to Hughley, police said.

Erlandson said police have been able to find out little about who Hughley may have been with the night he died and, as of Monday, had no suspects in the case.

“Nobody knows anything or no one is willing to come forward with anything,” the sergeant said.

Authorities ask that anyone with information about Hughley’s killing to call township police at (269) 343-0568 or contact Silent Observer at (269) 343-2100 or www.kalamazoosilentobserver.com.
